Ingredients
1 cup dhal
1 tomato
0.5 onion
2 cloves garlic
4 dried red chillies
0.25 teaspoon mustard seeds
0.25 teaspoon jeera seeds
0.25 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon salt
Preparation
Add 1 teaspoon salt and turmeric to dhal. Leave to boil until soft.
Blend tomatoes and garlic, add to Dhal. Don’t fully cover.
Mix to make sure dhal doesn’t settle, can scorch. Once dhal is fully boiled with tomatoes, remove from stovetop.
In a separate pot fry the mustard seeds, jeera, onions and chillies.
Add the boiled dhal to the mixture.
Gradually add more water according to the thickness required.
Add curry leaves and coriander.
Add salt according to taste.
